Overview
Arkansas Code Annotated §6-16-1901 requires a public high school student to complete a minimum of seventy-five (75) clock hours of documented community service in grades nine through twelve (9-12), as certified by the service partner with which the public school student volunteers, in order to graduate.
Districts can manage a student's community service record two different ways:
- By uploading a data file that contains the student's community service hours and activities.
- Manually, by entering the student's community service hours and activities into the system.
Arkansas Code Annotated §6-16-120 states if a student is currently in 10th-12th grade and has met the Community Service hours requirement, districts can indicate this by awarding the student 1.0 credit for State Course Code 496010.
The student's community service record is displayed in the student's transcript.
Searching and Viewing Student Transcripts explains how to find student transcripts and show / hide various transcript sections.
The community service status is also displayed in the student's completion status record.
The Completion Status Community Service Learning flag will also indicate how the student met requirements.
The system automatically handles several time consuming chores:
- Consolidating community service records as students change schools or districts.
- Calculating hour requirements for students who transfer in from out of state.
- Calculating hour requirements for students who graduate early.
